How the Program Works

1. Create a PaperLink Account
Sign up for free. The affiliate program is available to all teams regardless of plan - free or paid. You do not need to be a paying customer to earn commissions.
2. Generate Your Referral Link
Go to Settings - Referral Program in your team dashboard. Enter a custom slug - something memorable like my-blog or youtube-reviews - and PaperLink generates your unique referral URL:

You can create unlimited referral links per team. Each link tracks its own statistics independently, so you can measure performance across different channels.
3. Share It
Place your link in blog posts, YouTube descriptions, email newsletters, social media profiles, podcast show notes, or anywhere your audience discovers document sharing tools. When someone clicks your link, a 12-month tracking cookie is set on their browser. They have a full year to sign up - the referral still counts.
4. Earn Recurring Commissions
When a referred visitor creates a PaperLink account and starts paying, you earn 50% of every payment they make for 12 months from their first payment. Commissions appear in real time on your referral dashboard.

These are recurring commissions, not one-time payouts. Every month your referral pays, you earn. If they upgrade from Pro to Business mid-cycle, your commission increases with the higher payment amount. If they switch to yearly billing, you receive the full yearly commission in one payment and the referral completes.
Refer five Business plan customers paying monthly, and you earn roughly $1,500 over 12 months from those five referrals alone.

How Tracking Works
PaperLink uses a 12-month first-party cookie for referral attribution.
When someone clicks your referral link on any page of paperlink.online, the system sets a cookie on the .paperlink.online domain. This cookie persists for 12 months. If that visitor signs up for PaperLink at any point during that window - even weeks or months later - the referral is attributed to your link.
Attribution model: last-click. If a visitor clicks two different referral links, the most recent one gets credit. This is the industry standard for affiliate tracking.
What gets tracked automatically:
- Clicks - each visit to your referral URL increments the counter
- Sign-ups - when a referred visitor creates an account, the system reads the cookie and records the referral
- Paid conversions - when the referred user makes their first payment, commission tracking begins
- Commission earned - 50% of each payment is calculated and added to your balance
All of this happens without any manual work from you. The tracking infrastructure runs between PaperLink's marketing site and the app - your only job is sharing the link.
Real-Time Dashboard
Your referral dashboard lives at Settings - Referral Program inside your team workspace. It shows:
Per-link statistics: Every referral link displays its own clicks, sign-ups, paid conversions, and earned amount. If you run multiple campaigns with different links, you see exactly which one performs best.
Team summary: The overview panel aggregates totals across all your team's links - total clicks, total sign-ups, total paid conversions, total earned, total paid out, and pending balance.
Pagination and filtering: Teams with many referral links can filter by creator and paginate through results. The summary stats always reflect team-wide totals regardless of filters.
UTM Parameters for Campaign Attribution
Each referral link supports five standard UTM parameters for granular tracking:

On program changes: PaperLink may close the referral program at any time. If the program is closed, existing referral links remain active for their full 12-month cookie window. Affiliates continue earning commissions on already-referred customers for the complete 12-month period from each customer's first payment. No existing agreements are retroactively changed.
PaperLink reserves the right to reject fraudulent referrals. The program is built on trust - legitimate referrals earn real commissions.
